I want to share with you a breath that can help increase your energy level. This breath is called the Bellows Breath and it can be used to revive you on days when you need an extra boost.

Sit comfortably with your back straight. For this exercise you will keep your mouth closed and breathe through your nose. The breaths should be quick and rhythmic, occurring at a rate of 2 to 3 *breathing cycles per second. Your breath should sound like a bicycle pump as it pumps up a wheel. Keep the exercise short so that you don't get dizzy. You should practice this exercise for no longer than 20 seconds at first. You may gradually increase the time as you develop.

This exercise gives you energy naturally because the quick, shallow breathing acts as a trigger to our fight or flight response activating the adrenal system. With this being said, use caution at first because its excessive use can lead to hyperventilation.

Upon completion of the Bellows Breath you will feel a sudden burst of energy. Go enjoy it!

We'd love to hear how you've used the exercise. Please send us a comment here.

*A breathing cycle refers to 1 in and out breath.
