Email Battles & Positive Thoughts

by Erica Tywater

Life teaches me lessons when I least expect them. I was engrossed heavily in an email battle that had been going on between myself and my boss for over an hour. Back and forth I ranted and raved about some new process that I had questions about and disagreed with.

I received another cryptic response that didn't tell me the answer I wanted and I immediately felt my head begin to pound and my shoulders tighten. My blood begin to course through my body and I was instantly angry. I put my hands to my forehead, sighed, and began to formulate my next email.

As I looked down at my desk I saw a card that had an affirmation on it. It read something like this:
"I choose to nurture the planet. I send out happy energy into the world so that others may feel and be affected by it."

I looked at the card and read over it again. What a fantastic concept! I could choose to continue to allow this email battle to bring down my entire day and affect others around me by my bad mood or I could choose to think positive thoughts. Positive thoughts would cause me to be happy. My happiness and mood would be seen and felt by others around me and help others to have a better day.

Have you ever noticed how when you are in a bad mood everything and everyone seem to be wrong? The same happens when you are in a good mood and are positive. We make a choice every day as to how our day will turn out.

True, things happen in our lives that we cannot control, but the one thing that we can control is how we react to those things. We can focus our energy and time on being happy or by being sad.

What kind of day do you want to have?
