Holiday Stress Tips - Anchoring Purpose

Remember What's Important

It's very easy to caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holidays and forget what's important to us. We worry because we are low on funds and still have presents to buy, or we get stressed out by the bombardment of our senses while in overcrowded stores.

It's all to easy to forget why we are doing all of this, so remind yourself!

Put Pen to Paper

Make a list or gratitude journal of the things you are thankful for and carry it around with you. The list can include anything that makes you feel happy, loved, or lucky to be alive. Pull out the list and read it when you begin to feel the signs of stress.

Your list might include:

  • The sound of your child's laughter
  • You sons consummate wrestling moves
  • Your Wife's patience (with you)
  • Friends who are always there for you
  • Family who loves you
  • Anchoring our Purpose

Often our excursions into the madness are for the ones we love. We want to do or give something of perceived value so they know we love them. Your list acts as an anchor and redirects your mind from the current environment to your purpose in that moment, the act of giving. It's difficult to feel stressed when we feel thankful.
