After a tough day or week at the workplace we often find ourselves at home in front of the boob tube. It's all too easy to sit there in our "urban meditative state" or "TV coma" and "veg out".

Well get up off that couch or easy chair, and let's get wound-up at the local driving range. It's time to hit golf balls.

Every now and again, I like to get up early on the weekend and head to the driving range to relieve some stress.

You don't have to be a Tiger Woods to drive golf balls. In fact, you can derive great satisfaction from really knocking one way out there. It's wonderful when your driver connects right where it's supposed to. You know right away that you've hit the sweet spot.

I recommend buying a bucket of golf balls (cost roughly $5-$10 a bucket, depending on the size) and either bringing your own clubs, or borrowing some from the range (not always in the best shape, but it's what I've usually done).

Throughout the day, one of the range vehicles drives out onto the field and mechanically picks up golf balls. I use this time as sort of a bonus-round and really work on my accuracy.

You see, the driver is protected by some sort of a steal cage, so he is safe from any balls that might come his way. It's fun to see how excited the other golfers get when he's out there as well. Wind-up and fire away. 100 points for a direct hit, and 25 points for any that bounce 1st before striking the cart.

Become a Zen archer. Really loosen up, relax, breath, wind up, & fire. Don't worry about perfection. Enjoy yourself. Try to focus on the moment.
